Terms of Service
Last updated: December 2025
1. Who We Are
Renme ("Renme", "we", "us") operates a marketplace app where owners can list items for rent and renters can request bookings.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, using the app, publishing a listing, requesting a booking, adding a payment method, topping up, withdrawing, or submitting a dispute, you agree to these Terms.
3. Eligibility and Account Responsibilities
- You must be able to enter a binding agreement and comply with applicable laws.
- You are responsible for keeping your account secure and ensuring your information is accurate.
- We may require identity or additional verification for safety, payments, or compliance.
4. Marketplace Role (Important)
- Renme is a marketplace and provides tooling for listings, bookings, messaging, and payments.
- Unless stated otherwise, Renme is not the owner or renter of any item and is not a party to the rental agreement between users.
- We do not guarantee listing quality, safety, legality, or availability.
5. Listings and Public Content
- When you publish a listing, it may be visible publicly in the app (and on the web).
- You are responsible for ensuring you have rights to list the item and that the listing is accurate.
- Only list items you own or have permission to rent out.
- Owners must hand over items in a functional condition and provide any required accessories.
- You grant Renme a license to host, display, and distribute listing content for operating and marketing the marketplace.
- We may remove or restrict listings that violate policies or law.
6. Booking Requests and Rental Lifecycle
- Renters submit booking requests for dates and a handover method.
- Owners may approve or reject; requests can expire.
- Booking/rental statuses may change automatically based on timing rules.
- Users must follow handover instructions and communicate in good faith.
- Renters must be on time for pickup and return, take reasonable care of the item, and return it in the same condition.
- Renters must not tamper with, modify, or sub-rent items unless the owner agrees.
7. Wallet, Payment Methods, and Top Ups
- Renme uses a wallet-style balance display to show credits and debits inside the app.
- Renme is not a bank. Wallet balances are for marketplace use and may be subject to holds and processing delays.
- You may add a payment method to top up your wallet. Charges are processed by Stripe.
8. Stripe Connect and Withdrawals (Owners)
- Owners may connect a Stripe account to receive payouts.
- Stripe may require KYC/verification and may suspend payouts or require updates.
- Withdrawals transfer available wallet balance to your connected bank account, subject to processing time and compliance checks.
9. Fees and Earnings
- Renme may charge platform fees and/or payment processing fees. Fees will be disclosed in the app where practical.
- Earnings are credited to the owner wallet after booking payments are captured, subject to disputes and other holds.
10. Security Deposits
Renme uses a hybrid deposit model:
- If the security deposit is $100 AUD or less: we reserve the full deposit from the renter's wallet during the booking.
- If the security deposit is more than $100 AUD: we reserve $100 AUD from the renter's wallet and treat the remainder as "card on file".
- Deposits are not charged when a dispute is raised.
- A deposit is only charged if a dispute is raised and Renme determines the renter is responsible for verified damage, loss, or extra costs.
11. Disputes and Claims
- Either party may submit a dispute with a description and optional evidence (e.g. photos).
- During a dispute, booking actions and chat may be limited.
- Dispute outcomes may include releasing the deposit or charging some/all of the deposit.
- Renme may request additional information and may make final decisions for purposes of deposit handling in-app.
12. Prohibited Behavior
You agree not to:
- Use the platform for illegal activities, fraud, or harassment.
- List prohibited items or unsafe items.
- Attempt to bypass fees or manipulate disputes.
13. Safety and Insurance
- Users are responsible for safe handling, pickup/meetup safety, and compliance with laws.
- Unless explicitly offered, Renme does not provide insurance for items or users.
14. Termination and Enforcement
We may suspend or terminate accounts and remove listings for violations, safety risks, compliance, or misuse.
15. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, Renme is not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
- Nothing in these Terms excludes non-excludable rights under Australian Consumer Law (if applicable).
16. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms. The latest version will be available in-app and on our website with a "last updated" date.
